e-gold's Account Sentinel™ (a.k.a. AccSent™) enhances the security of your e-gold account. AccSent monitors account access attempts and issues a one-time PIN challenge to your email address if login attempt coming from IP address ranges or browsers that differ from the last authorized account access. Make sure you have your e-gold account’s AccSent setting turned ON!

Use an Anti-Virus & Spyware program
If your e-gold account was hacked or compromised while AccSent was enabled, there is a high probability that you either have a security hole in your computer, which allowed hackers to take control of your computer or you have a Trojan virus, spyware or keylogger software installed on your computer because someone not only had access to your e-gold passphrase, they also had access to your email address password.

With the number and type of threat constantly increasing, an antivirus solution alone is not enough. You need to protect your computer against all threats. It is a must for you to have both antivirus and anti-spyware program.

Verify website identity before entering passphrase/password
There is a lot of fraudulent "phishing" websites designed to trick people into divulging their password or other sensitive information. Spoofed e-mail is commonly used to lure victims to phishing websites. Therefore we advise NEVER login to e-gold account through email link! Always double check to ensure that you are at the real e-gold website by:

Checking the site url is EXACTLY http://www.e-gold.com/
Checking for an active padlock in the browser status bar.
Checking the SSL certificate is valid and issued to www.e-gold.com and issued by VeriSign.

Keep your operating system and applications updated
Make sure you have the latest security patches installed for your windows
